Brendon Reis (Salvador, 1996) is a self-taught visual artist based in São Paulo, Brazil. His painting practice is driven by the imagery of Black identity through the concepts of the natural and the surreal. Brendon’s work explores the contradictory dilemmas of human existence, such as perception and image, the ordinary and the spectacular. Focusing on portraits of Black figures in dark and blue tones, the artist connects the concepts of identity, body, affection, and duality.
His works are held in the permanent collections of National Museum of Fine Arts (Museu Nacional de Belas Artes) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre Brazil. In October 2026, Reis was featured in his first US Based solo exhibition, as the Atlanta Art Fair’s International Artist Spotlight.
